Halifax Gold Buys Diamonds and Gemstones

Many of our customers are surprised to learn that we also buy diamonds. While the process differs slightly from gold or silver evaluations, we do purchase both diamonds and select gemstones at our Halifax location.

For smaller diamonds, often referred to as side stones (typically under 0.4 carat), we can usually make an offer during your visit. In some cases, the stone may need to be removed from the setting so we can confirm it is a natural diamond rather than a synthetic or cubic zirconia.

For diamonds over 0.4 carat, we will arrange for a grading by our GIA-certified gemologist. Please contact us in advance if you’re planning to bring in a larger stone, so we can ensure the proper assessment is available.

We also purchase popular gemstones, such as rubies, emeralds and sapphires, on a case-by-case basis. Like diamonds, larger or higher-value stones may require evaluation by our gemologist. We do not purchase uncut or synthetic diamonds.
